Creating Bespoke Listings or Prices

When someone enquires after your kit, it might be that they are looking for a particular combination of different items you have listed, or they might be looking to strike a deal price with you.

You have the freedom to price and list items as you see fit. If you come to an agreement with a hirer it is easy to make amendments to listings to suit the situation.

In terms of coming to a deal on price, you have two options. You can simply add a new price to the existing listing to reflect the deal. For example – you have a camera kit listed at £150 per day. You strike a deal with a hirer to take the kit over a weekend for a total price of £150, instead of two days for £300.

It is important that the hire period that is booked reflects the dates the camera kit will be in the possession of the hirer. These are the dates that are recorded in the system and form the basis of the rental agreement. Therefore, in our example, it’s important that the hire is dated for both the Saturday and Sunday and not just one day to reflect the cost of the deal (£150).

From the ‘Manage Listings’ page in your user dashboard, navigate to the listing and click ‘edit’. In your listing go to the second tab – labelled ‘Pricing and availability’. Here you can create a new 2-day price of £150. Save the listing. You would now tell the hirer to go and book the camera kit for 2 days and the price should be reflected. Once you have confirmed the booking you may wish to then remove the bespoke price so that other enquirers don’t accidentally get offered this price without striking a deal with you. Removing the price from the live listing will not affect the booking you have confirmed as payment has already been taken.

If you are proactive about adding and removing bespoke prices from your listing it need not affect other customers when they come across your listing. You may also wish to add in the item listing information that you are open to doing deals and encourage the hirer to contact you to ask.

Alternatively, you could create a completely new and bespoke listing for that particular hire and that particular deal. The would be only one price on the listing and you could label it as a special deal so that it is clear to everyone that sees the listing.  Again you can quickly remove this listing form the live site once the listing has been booked and confirmed.
