The Rental Process

So you’ve made your listing, set the dates and pick-up options, uploaded some lovely pictures and are ready and waiting for someone to make a hire.

What happens now?

Below is a brief outline of how the rental procedure works. All invoices and rental agreements are generated by the system, so you don’t have to worry about that, you only need to accept the hire and arrange a time and place to meet. MyKitPlace.com makes renting your kit easy.

Hire process overview:

  • The Hirer finds the kit he/she wants on MyKitPlace.com.
  • Hirer selects dates they need the kit and sends a ‘Reservation Request’.
  • At this stage the Hirer needs to enter their payment details, but no money is taken at this stage – money is only taken once the hire has been confirmed.
  • The Owner is notified of reservation by email and SMS (provided you have added your mobile number to your profile).
  • The Owner has 24 hours to respond to the request before it is automatically declined.
  • This does not mean that the transaction has to be completed or agreed, but the Owner must respond to the Hirer within this time frame.
  •  The Owner should review the request, check the profile and reviews of the Hirer. Be sure that the dates requested are still suitable and may wish to contact the Hirer for details of insurance or information about the shoot and how the kit will be used. You must contact the Hirer via the inbuilt messaging system.
  • Equally the Hirer may have questions for the Owner about the kit, what’s included and how to get the best out of use it.
  • When both parties are satisfied the Owner will confirm the hire.
  • Payment is taken from the Hirer, a hire agreement is generated and sent to the Owner.
  • An invoice for the rental amount will be sent to both parties. The Owner’s invoice will detail any MyKitPlace fees deducted.
  • If not already done so both parties should agree the time and place to meet to pick-up and drop-off the kit.

For meeting up please see our tips and recommendations here.

Payment to the Owner will be automatically transferred by our payment portal Stripe. The Owner must have connected their bank account with the Stripe service before they will be able to confirm the hire.
